2023 Kia Sportage Lineup
Who doesn’t love a brand-new Kia? Get ready for the new and improved Kia Sportage coming to the Kia family in 2023! Below are some of the vehicle’s new features inside and out!
This new fifth-generation lineup of the Sportage is larger than past generations and will offer a variety of new features for the model. One of its new stand-out features is the dual panoramic digital display that will be available. This feature connects two screens, providing almost 25-inches of digital display for the driver! Certainly, this new and improved feature will make for a very enjoyable driving experience.
Also, the 2023 Sportage generation will be larger overall. Compared to the last generation, this lineup is 7.1 inches longer with a 3.4 inch longer wheelbase, as well. With the length and height of the vehicle both increasing by half an inch, other aspects of the vehicle become larger and more useful for the owner. This Sportage will have 43.1 inches of rear legroom, making for a more comfortable ride for passengers. The rear cargo room will also increase. This will now provide 39.6 cu-ft of space for the owner!
2023 Kia Sportage Tech
We love all of the new size improvements but, let’s not forget about what’s in store in the tech world for this Sportage! The digital aspects inside the vehicle are definitely just as important for the car owner. In this new generation, owners will enjoy Android Auto/Apple Car Play which is available in all versions. A new touchpad will allow the driver to easily adjust features in the vehicle, such as temperature and audio volume. A 360-degree surround-view monitor with 3D birds-eye view will be available as well, providing an improved view!
That’s not all in terms of tech! This new version will provide multi-connection Bluetooth and a wireless charging pad that will easily improve the compatibility and usage between your phone and the vehicle. A first for the Sportage digital scene will be the Wifi HotSpot available in the car. This feature will allow you to connect up to five devices to its wifi! For a family, this feature will certainly come in handy for your next vacation or long road trip!
Sportage All-Wheel Drive X-Line and X-Pro
Kia is sporting its rugged side with this line, as well! The Sportage X-Line and X-Pro will be new editions in this Kia lineup. These new vehicles will be perfect for your next off-road adventure! The X-Line will have some new exterior features to add to the rugged look, like a raised roof rack! This version will have exclusive 19-inch tires, too! For the X-Pro edition, you’ll have multi-terrain drive modes with 17-inch off-road wheels. As well as other features like LED fog lights, available two-tone roof and more!

Car ABS Light- Anti-Lock Brakes
What it means: Your car’s regular brakes should work fine, but the antilock feature that prevents wheels from locking up during braking will not work. If you don’t take care of the this issue, your brakes could be lock up and a stop could lead into an accident.
Check Engine Light
What it means: A check engine light could be a result of many different issues. The light could be a minor issue, such as a needing a new gas cap, or it could mean something more serious, like a misfiring engine.
Oil Light
What it means: When the oil light comes on, it most likely means your vehicle has low oil pressure. This drop in oil pressure could be a few things: your vehicle is low on oil, your oil is dirty, or you have an oil leak.
Power Steering Light or EPS
What it means: This light informs you that the power steering system has failed. The issue could be different depending on what type power steering system your vehicle has.

2022 Mitsubishi Outlander

There are three versions of the 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander to choose from. The ES, SE and SEL are available and offer a variety of features across the board! Outlander SEL
Next, let’s talk about the Outlander SEL! This is the top version of the Outlander. With this version, you will have a 9-inch navigation screen, leather interior and 20-inch wheels. With this model, however, you get all leather seats throughout the vehicle. This version also has heated front seats, but added heated rear seats! If your vehicle isn’t running the way it should, or if you just want to upgrade to something new, then a trade-in is most likely your best bet. Trading your vehicle in can be a great way to get a lower monthly payment on a new vehicle. Whether you are trading in your current vehicle for something new or just selling the vehicle to of our Jim Shorkey locations without purchasing another vehicle, pay attention to all of the details.
How to Prepare Your Vehicle for a Trade-In
Before taking your vehicle to a dealership for a trade-in, the first step is to prepare your vehicle. Here at Jim Shorkey Auto Group we will take our time to look at every aspect of your vehicle, inside and out. We always want to give you the best price we can, and to do so we have to examine the value of the vehicle you are bringing in on trade.
Here are a few tips to getting your vehicle prepped for a trade-in:
Fix the Small Issues
It might feel weird paying to get the small things fixed before going to trade in your vehicle, but a small amount of money can make a big difference in the vehicles over all value. Check all fluid levels underneath the hood and be sure to top them off. Check all of the lights in and around the vehicle, and replace them if needed. An oil change and tire alignment can help the vehicle run more smoothly, if necessary.
Wash and Detail
Clean the vehicle, interior and exterior. This will be a great first impression of your vehicle. On the interior, clean it from floor to ceiling. Take out all your personal belongings and vacuum it, clean the floor mats to remove any dirt, stains, and scents. Have the Extras
Bring any extra sets of keys along with your vehicle. Other may include:

Tips for Your Next Test Drive
You may have an idea of the car type you want, but do you know what you want it to drive like? We have some tips for you to look out for on your test drive! Thinking about the following tips should help you find the perfect vehicle for you during the test drive process.
Take a Walk-Around:
Before you get in the vehicle, we recommend taking an outside walk-around of the car. Be sure to check out all of its exterior features and everything it has to offer. You may also want to ask your salesperson if you can move the car to a different location to do so. Doing the walk-around outside of the dealership with less commotion could be very beneficial.
Comfort:
For a lot of people, a car is a long-term purchase so one very important aspect to look at is its comfort level. As the driver, you’ll likely be spending quite a bit of time in this vehicle. So, make sure that its features can be set to your liking. When you first get in the vehicle, be sure to adjust the seat so that you are in a comfortable sitting position. Also, take a look at your mirrors, ensure that they are set to where you are able to see on both sides and behind your vehicle with little to no movement needed from you. Another feature to check for comfort is the steering wheel. The steering wheel position can be very important to your comfort in the vehicle, especially on long drives. So, make sure that it is set to a level and position of your liking.
Test-Drive Distance:
Another tip for your test drive is the length and distance of it. The car may drive perfectly to your liking when you are slowly driving through a parking lot, however, will it still be perfect on a long road trip or main roads and highways? Take the time to drive the vehicle out of the dealership, if possible, test its driving ability on a variety of roadways and especially the most common road types in your area. You will get a better feel for the long-term driving capability of the vehicle when you do so.
Perspective:
Our fourth tip for your test drive is to swap seats with the salesperson. Taking some time to sit in the passenger seat will give you a different perspective of the vehicle and its features. Also, this can help you get a better understanding of how the vehicle drives and what your passengers will be experiencing in the vehicle.
Ask Questions:
Don’t forget to ask questions during your test drive, too! The salesperson is there to help you make the best choice of purchase. However, the test drive is for you, not them, so be sure to ask if you can drive in an area you are comfortable in, if possible.
Also, the salesperson will be your expert on the vehicle. They will either already have or be able to find the answers you need. Don’t leave a test drive confused or unsure about aspects of the vehicle. Here are some questions to consider and ask during the test drive process:
- What is the gas mileage?
- Where is the all-wheel-drive?
- What are the different drive modes?
- What are the vehicle’s main features?
- Where is the gas lever?
- Where should I service my vehicle?

It’s time to get your vehicle into winter mode.
It may feel like winter is far away, but in reality there’s only sixteen weeks remaining and here in the North East the weather rarely waits for the seasons to change before it starts to take a turn. Below are some tips on how to avoid being unprepared or worse, stranded on the side of the road.
Winter Tires
Winter tires are a big deal when the seasons start to change. These are different from other tires because they are made with a different rubber that has better grip in winter weather and an optimized tread width. This provides extra grip, which prevents the vehicle from slipping on wet or icy roads. Even vehicles that are made with four-wheel or all-wheel drive need winter tires.
Maintenance
Has your vehicle had it’s recommended maintenance based on the mileage? To find this information you can take a look in your owner’s manual, or even give any our a service departments a call. Schedule an appointment with our service department sooner rather than later to avoid the cold weather rush.
Emergency kit
It is best practice to keep a kit in the trunk with a few supplies just in case. There are pre-assembled options available in stores or online. You can also build one yourself: some popular supplies include jumper cables, basic tool set, a first-aid kit, ice scraper/snow brush, flashlight and extra batteries, a blanket, water bottles and a few snacks like energy bars. Having an emergency kit during the cold weather or accident can be vital.
Check the Weather

2022 Kia Telluride
Let’s take a look at the 2022 Kia Telluride! This new vehicle could be the perfect option for you. The Telluride offers some great features to make your drive full of comfort and ease.
Interior/Exterior Features:
Inside the Telluride, you’ll find a variety of elements. The car provides a 10.25-inch navigation display, which should create an easier navigation experience for the driver. There is also the Standard Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA), Blind-Spot Tech, Parking Distance Warning – Reverse (PDW-R) and more. These features greatly add to the safety of the vehicle.
For all of you tech enthusiasts, you’ll be excited to know that the Telluride provides Head-Up Display for a more convenient drive as well as USB Charge ports throughout all 3 rows in the vehicle. What is GAP insurance and how does it work?
Buying a vehicle can be an overwhelming experience, but here at Jim Shorkey Auto Group, we want to make it as easy as possible for you.
One of the biggest questions when you’re buying a new vehicle is: What is GAP insurance and when do you need it?
We asked Chris Tarwacki, one of our finance mangers at Kia Wexford, to explain GAP insurance, so you’re prepared when you come into one of our dealerships.
What does GAP stand for and what does it do?
Guaranteed Asset Protection protects you during the event of a total loss situation. Your vehicles value at the time of an accident is most likely going to be much less that the balance owed. Therefor creating a “GAP” between the two numbers which the customer is responsible for.
Does it only cover accidents?
As a matter of fact, the GAP coverage we provide covers fire, theft, flood, and accidents.
When would I need a GAP policy?
There are many different situations where this coverage is highly recommended although here are the most critical situations: Anytime you are rolling over a balance (negative equity) from a trade in vehicle, making a purchase with less than 25% down or a used car purchase that the bank views as a potential risk. Example: Older model with high mileage
On average how much would it affect my monthly payment?
Depending on the length of your loan this coverage is only about $10 – $15 a month
Should I purchase GAP from the dealer or my insurance company?
Here at Jim Shorkey our product provider does not charge a deductible, they cover up to a 150 percent of the loan value and will never let a negative balance jeopardize your credit.
Can I add this coverage at a later date?
GAP needs to be purchased during your dealership visit so you are fully covered at all times.
Should I be more likely to purchase GAP on a new or used vehicle?
GAP is recommended on both purchases although its more so on a used vehicle because the lack of factory rebates and already established mileage.
