Summer is getting even closer, and we are in the third installment of our series on road tripping in a family vehicle –full-size SUV’s. Full-size SUVs are great because they give you the most space and towing capacity.
2021 Ford Expedition
We’re kicking off with the 2021 Ford Expedition, which offers power, style and PLENTY of space for both passengers and cargo. A mid-size SUV is a great option if you are looking for sportier styling than a minivan, but don’t need the high ride height or towing capacity of a large, full-size SUV. Dodge Durango SUV

Is Your Vehicle Road-Trip-Ready?
We are springing into Summer soon and that means… SUMMER VACATIONS! May – September is Road Trip season; here at Jim Shorkey Auto group, we are ready to get your vehicle Road-Trip-Ready! It is important your car is prepared for any kind of road trip. Before you hit the road, you should ALWAYS pre-check your vehicle to make sure it is in prime condition to hit the road, Jack! Whether you are driving a short distance or across the country, use these tips to make sure your car is prepared for your next adventure.
Lights
Check to make sure all lights are working! This includes brake lights, turn signals, headlights, and reverse lights. Not only do lights out cause a caution to you and other drivers, but you can be pulled over by the police because of an out light. Checking lights is any easy task to check off the list!
Fluids
Check the fluids! This includes oil, transmission fluid, antifreeze, windshield washer fluid and brake fluid. Check your oil levels and when you are due for an oil change. If you are close to your date and/or mileage, it is recommended to change oil before embarking on your road trip. Dirty air filters can waste fuel and cause the engine to lose power. A supply of clean air to your engine improves the vehicle’s performance and efficiency. This will help you avoid an accident or breakdown!
Tread & Tire Pressure
Check your tires! Under inflated tires reduce a vehicle’s fuel economy, and uneven tire wear indicates a need for wheel alignment. Tires should also be checked for bulges and bald spots. If the tires are showing any tread wear, replace the tires. Make sure all of your tires are inflated to correct amount of tire pressure. The pressure marked on the side of the tire is the max, which must not be exceeded. Also, do not forget to check the pressure of your spare tire. This is often neglected. Not doing so will turn a bad time into a worse one if the spare is unusable.
Engine
Check your engine! Make sure it is delivering the best balance of power and fuel economy and producing the lowest level of emissions.

The days of Winter are finally behind us. Now is the time to look at the damage the ice, salt and snow did to your vehicles appearance and get it ready for those warm, sunny days! Wash your car, or better yet — get it detailed!
Now is the time to make sure all the salt is removed, as it can be quite damaging to your vehicle over time. Getting a full detail will provide a deep clean, inside, and out!
Change your wiper blades!
We had a lot of snow this winter, so your wiper blades had to work overtime! Those spring showers are on the way, so grab yourself a new set of wiper blades !
Check your wiper fluid!
After the winter we had, it may be empty!
Check your tire pressure, and the condition of your tires and brakes!
Now is a good time to make sure all tires are properly inflated. Check for any cracks, the tread or anything that could lead to a potential blow out.

Keeping it Safe
Keeping it at a safe distance, but still doing what we love… helping our customers!
How Are We Operating?
Currently our Sales, Service, and Body Shop Departments are open. Our sales customers are offered to shop through our safe and convenient buying process. Customers can choose to shop online to browse through our 5,000 vehicle inventory. Communication between the customer and our sales team can be done via phone or email. All paperwork will be prepared on our end prior to the customer’s arrival, to save time and keep everyone safe. During our delivery process at the store, we have created well-ventilated areas to finish the final portion of the delivery process. Can’t make it to one of our locations? No problem, we offer home delivery!
How Else Are We Keeping it Safe?
We conduct a rigorous disinfection process at all locations and during any kind of work, and our team is required to wear masks. We have some of our team working at home, to keep traffic through our locations at a minimum. At each location, access to restrooms are available. Customers who come in for service on their vehicle, are being asked to remove items in their vehicle they would not want sprayed with disinfectant. We ask you to drop your keys in our dropbox, so our service team can safely retrieve them. The customer’s vehicle will be disinfected once more before returning the vehicle back to the customer.
We intend to do our part to stop the spread of COVID-19 to our communities, team and customers by Keeping it Safe! Thank you for your support!
