Keeping your car up to date on all service checks can be time-consuming and sometimes confusing. This can cause some very important service needs to be ignored until it is too late, creating a potentially dangerous situation for you as the driver. We checked in with one of our service managers to hear what types of appointments frequently go unscheduled as well as what the most important service appointments are for your vehicle to have before an issue arises!

Cabin Air Filter

The Cabin Air Filter of the vehicle is very important and often not considered. This is a filter inside the dash of a car that filters the air from outside to the inside of the vehicle. If ignored, this can limit the amount of air coming through your vents and potentially bring outside contaminants in. As a standard, your cabin air filter should be checked during every oil change. Also, it is recommended that they are replaced every 10,000-15,000 miles. Be sure to consider your cabin air filter during your next vehicle service appointment.

Alignments

Another important vehicle check that is not always considered is an alignment. Usually, alignments are scheduled once an issue has occurred. They can be caused by things like potholes and usually cause noticeable tire wear to the car. While your car alignment should be checked after any major impact, that isn’t the only time your alignment should be looked at. This should be checked twice a year before issues start to arise.

Brakes

An extremely important part of the vehicle that can sometimes be overlooked is its brakes. This is another item that usually goes unchecked until there are issues with them and the vehicle. Usually, an appointment is made once they start making noise or noticeable grinding occurs, which at that point, is too late. Brakes should be checked during every tire rotation, which should occur every 5,000 miles on the vehicle. Be sure to stay up to date with brake maintenance to keep your vehicle safe for you and the rest of your passengers.

Battery

The battery is obviously a very important aspect of your vehicle, and since it is usually unseen by the driver, it is also usually not thought about. This is another piece of your vehicle that should be checked out during every oil change your vehicle has. Checking the battery frequently can help fight against starting issues with your vehicle throughout the year, especially during the colder months. When it is looked at, it is getting checked for any signs of corrosion and cold-cranking amps, which is the rating used to determine the battery’s ability to start the vehicle in cold temperatures.

These are just a few important items to get checked with your vehicle. Be sure to stay up to date on maintenance appointments to ensure your car stays safe for you to drive. Check out our locations to schedule your next service appointment now!
